Garfield Minus Garfield
Everyone hates comic strips featuring cats.
No one, however, to my knowledge, has been able to come up with a solution to that scourge of the comics page—until now. And like most strokes of genius the solution, once presented, seems obvious.
In the case of cat comics, since the problem is the cat, all one has to do is eliminate the feline.
Travors, the visionary who had this brainstorm, explains it best:
Who would have guessed that when you remove Garfield from the Garfield comic strips, the result is an even better comic about schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and the empty desperation of modern life? Friends, meet Jon Arbuckle. Let’s laugh and learn with him on a journey deep into the tortured mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against loneliness in a quiet American suburb.
The Garfield Minus Garfield strips above are used by permission. Lots more here.
(And Jim Davis, author of Garfield With Garfield, approves!)
